Beyond Sports Taekwondo has a great series of classes designed for children of all ranks. Our children's program is focused on the core of martial arts—building a foundation of discipline, focus, and energy that will carry the student through every part of life. Students with a base in these martial arts principles will fare better socially and developmentally both at school and at home. And most importantly, they'll learn this valuable set of skills while having fun and learning to protect themselves!

This fun interactive class is geared toward boys and girls ages 3 1/2-5yrs. This program introduces fair play, courtesy, respect, following directions and healthy peer interaction. While they think they are cool ninjas, we know they are learning life skills that will last them forever. This class is 1 day a week for 40 minutes, and it prepares each child for advancement into the older classes.
This class helps students as they prepare for black belt. Advanced martial artists learn the full curriculum, which includes awesome advanced kicking, boxing, Olympic Taekwondo sparring and forms, and advanced self defense--hapkido, grab releases, throws and falls. Students learn meditation and self control that will help them with schooling, family life, and other pursuits. This is one of our most exciting classes, and it prepares the advanced student to become a lifetime martial artist.
Children of all ranks are invited to attend this class; it provides an alternative schedule if students need to substitute one of their regular classes. This is a fun and high energy class which helps students of all ranks to learn their curriculum, to build self esteem and self control, and to become a better martial artist.
Sparring is fun and a great way to work on reaction skills. While the drills will help your child prepare for the ring, actual matches will prepare them for real-life self defense situations. Both Self Defense and Sparring require conditioning and practice in order to succeed, and practicing one helps with the other. Having someone actually kick them will help your child deal with the adrenaline rush and indecision that often follows a real-life attack, making your child more capable in real self defense and in their normal classes. Sparring is not required until the Advanced Ranks (Blue Belt), but children are encouraged to start as soon as they are ready (usually in the Intermediate ranks and as early as Yellow/Green Belt). While it may be a little intimidating, it is a great way to risk in a safe environment. Our students are not required to compete at tournaments, but are encouraged to do so to build their confidence and repertoire.
Our Leadership Program is built specifically for teens and young adults who wish to improve their leadership skills; however, we do have children as young as ten involved. Children and teens who show exceptional Leadership Spirit are invited to join, but any parent who is interested in having their child participate and learn great skills is welcome to inquire in the office about the requirements. Leadership is a great goal for our younger student as they prepare for black belt and for life.
Is there life beyond Black Belt? There is here. Masters class is reserved just for our Black Belts and is designed to inspire them to further growth and learning. We firmly believe that the only person who can limit you is yourself, and we want our Black Belts to surpass their own expectations in their Persuit of Mastery. Through our association with Kwajanim Ernie Reyes, our Black Belts have the opportunity to Test in California for their higher ranks. This class focuses on the curriculum necessary for such a step and also on creating more experienced, well-rounded Black Belts.
